Serialisation events aligned to GS1 EPCIS 2.0
Ergopharm has updated the serialisation event messaging generated across its packaging and warehouse lines to conform to GS1 EPCIS 2.0, the traceability event standard ratified by GS1 in 2022. The change modernises how the company records and exchanges commission, aggregation and shipping events for serialised export packs.
EPCIS (Electronic Product Code Information Services) is the GS1 interoperability standard for capturing and sharing supply-chain visibility events, describing what happened, to which objects, when, where and why. It is published internationally as ISO/IEC 19987. The 2.0 revision, ratified by GS1 in 2022, is the most significant update since the standard's earlier releases, and it is the version Ergopharm has now adopted for the event records produced on its aggregation and dispatch systems.

In practical terms, EPCIS 2.0 formalises a JSON/JSON-LD representation of events alongside the established XML binding, and introduces a modern REST application programming interface for querying and exchanging captured data. For Ergopharm, this means the parent-child relationships built during aggregation, where individual packs carrying a serialised unique identifier (SGTIN) are consolidated into cases and pallets identified by SSCC, are now expressed as EPCIS 2.0 aggregation events, while the initial serialisation of each pack is recorded as a commissioning (object) event and outbound consignments as shipping events.
The event data continues to be built on the same GS1 identifier framework Ergopharm already uses on-pack: the GS1 DataMatrix (ECC200) carrying Application Identifiers (01) GTIN, (17) expiry, (10) batch or lot and (21) serial, with cases and pallets labelled by SSCC under AI (00). Aligning the event layer to EPCIS 2.0 keeps this identifier data consistent from the point a pack is commissioned on the line through to the aggregation hierarchy that accompanies each export shipment.
Ergopharm has implemented the update additively: existing XML-based exchanges remain supported for trading partners not yet migrated, while the JSON/JSON-LD binding and REST interface are available where required. All records are maintained under the company's data-integrity controls, following ALCOA+ principles, so that captured events remain attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original and accurate. This is a technical alignment of Ergopharm's own messaging to a current GS1 standard and does not itself constitute or imply any national marketing approval.
