Purified water loop commissioned and qualified

A circulating purified-water loop has been commissioned at the Vadodara site, replacing stored water with continuously moving, continuously monitored water.

Water that stands still grows things. The loop keeps water in constant circulation at a velocity sufficient to discourage biofilm, with no dead legs longer than the accepted rule of thumb and sanitisation on a defined cycle. Conductivity and total organic carbon are monitored continuously, with bioburden sampled on a schedule that covers every user point over the course of the month.

A water system is only qualified once it has seen a full monsoon.

Qualification followed the three-phase approach used for water systems: an intensive initial phase sampling every point every day, a second phase confirming the sanitisation regime, and a year-long phase capturing seasonal variation in the incoming feed water — which in Gujarat is considerable.

The loop supplies granulation, cleaning and the laboratory, and its performance is reviewed in the annual product quality review for every product it touches.
